"reminded me a little of Dadland"

Wilson's first adult title is this vividly told and profoundly affecting memoir of her mother Gillian, whose belated diagnosis of Asperger's in her 70s explained so much. Part of a lost generation of women who were just categorised as "different" or over-anxious, your heart goes out to everyone as you read about Gillian's lifelong mental fragility, and her family's struggle to comprehend and help her. The book-which reminded me a little of Dadland-came out of a blog which Wilson began by way of trying to help others in her situation.
