He finds refuge in a derelict zoo with best friend Duke, but as the two of them grow close, the world outside becomes more and more hostile. Following two teenagers living very different lives, ARCTIC ZOO is a startling contemporary novel about protest, sexuality, mental heath and flawed leadership, from the bestselling author of CHERUB.

"A tale packed with teenage issues"

Often with dual-narrative novels you get hooked on one and try to wade through the other to get back to it. Not so here, where Muchamore, with pacing and finesse, ensures we are absorbed in two worlds that have nods to each other without being twinned tenuously.

Muchamore was inspired to write the book by his own serious bout of depression in 2012, during which time he spent a period in hospital. The characters are based on real people he met there. He has done them proud.
