"it is a long shaggy dog story — and, in its rarefied way, occasionally very funny"

Over a long night he reveals how he found success by appropriating the work of others, until he met his downfall at the hands of anti-plagiarism software. Along the way he reveals a deep distrust of modern poetry, having discovered “volumes filled with this nothingness in charity shops all over town”. Sam Riviere is an acclaimed poet and on one level this book is an insiderish critique of the poetry scene, with some inspired parody of the titles of poetry books, journals and absurdly proliferating minor prizes. On another it is a long shaggy dog story — and, in its rarefied way, occasionally very funny.
