The hero of The Poet and The Scarecrow is back in the new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly. Jack McEvoy, the journalist who never backs down, tracks a serial killer who has been operating completely under the radar - until now.

"as exciting as anything Connelly has written"

McEvoy’s research takes him into the murky world of DNA analytics and what he finds — which Michael Connelly states is “based on fact and current understanding of the human genome” — has terrifying implications for us all. McEvoy is not as sympathetic a character as Harry Bosch or Mickey Haller, “the Lincoln Lawyer”, but his old flame and sidekick, the ex-FBI profiler Rachel Walling, the source of much “hope and hurt”, most certainly is. And the final hundred pages of this unnerving novel are as exciting as anything Connelly has written.
