Frank Ramsey was a brilliant Cambridge philosopher, mathematician, and economist who died in 1930 at 26 having made landmark contributions to decision theory, game theory, mathematics, logic, semantics, philosophy of science, and the theory of truth. This rich biography tells the story of his extraordinary life and intellectual achievement.

"She has given Ramsey the biography that he richly deserves"

In this fascinating biography, Cheryl Misak, a philosophy professor at the University of Toronto, makes us wonder why Ramsey has been so recherché a subject. She cleverly caters for the diversity of his thought by supplementing her own scholarly exposition of it with ‘guest boxes’ written by appropriate specialists (Partha Dasgupta on Ramsey’s rule in economics, for instance). And, combining insight, wit and affection with erudition, she conveys how lovable as well as how brilliant Ramsey was.
