This book is filled with gorgeous photographs, but do I actually like cooking from it? For nibbly bits, starters and light lunches, perhaps. For anything more, I found it wanting – unless I took matters into my own hands and scoured my cupboards for something to add. But in retrospect, perhaps that's the point.
There's room in these recipes to chop and change and add your own twist. Even the spacing of the recipes on the pages provides ample room for scibbling down a particularly good spice combination or accompaniment, whether that was the intention or not. It teaches you to make the recipes, and encourages you to become a more instinctive cook.
