"What ultimately holds the book together, besides Bluestone’s dogged fascination with McFarland’s schemes, is the delicious sense of outrage that people are getting away with this"

What ultimately holds the book together, besides Bluestone’s dogged fascination with McFarland’s schemes, is the delicious sense of outrage that people are getting away with this. Best of all, because the victims have often willed themselves into being deceived, you can play the prurient observer without too much guilt. The people who went to Fyre were all doing it for Instagram. The guy who shared the floppy sandwich picture doubtless had a horrible time, but at least he got some viral content from it.
