Their parents made a choice years ago. Now they're counting on the children to step in. After so much time, can old wounds heal? Mum & Dad by the Sunday Times bestseller Joanna Trollope is a wise, brilliantly drawn examination of a modern family dilemma.

"Trollope navigates her pitted familial landscape with sympathy, wisdom and wry humour"

Mum & Dad (Macmillan, £18.99) marks an assured return for Joanna Trollope. In 1993 Monica and Gus left the UK for Andalusia to pursue his dream of becoming a winemaker, taking their youngest child with them, and leaving the two older ones behind at boarding school. When, a quarter of a century later, the cantankerous Gus has a stroke, the family must grapple with a complicated future — and past. Moving between London and Spain, this is no Aga saga (though a pivotal act of rebellion does involve a middle-aged man binning Thai fishcakes and ordering in pizza and beer).
