"Disher is brilliant at rural noir"

Disher is brilliant at rural noir, capturing the stifling atmosphere of a small town where resentments simmer against the backdrop of an unforgiving landscape.

"atmospheric and nail-biting"

Peace is an atmospheric and nail-biting novel by one of Australia’s finest writers, and yet Garry Disher has been more or less ignored by British publishers. Many years ago Bitter Lemon Press published the first two books in his series featuring the Melbourne cops Hal Challis and Ellen Destry — The Dragon Man and Kittyhawk Down; there are seven now — but until this year, that was it. He deserves to be far better known and far more widely read.
