"A furious polemic argues that GPs shouldn’t have to write sick notes"

Adrian Massey’s Sick-Note Britain is a laudable attempt to cut through this Gordian knot of bureaucratic contradictions. Massey is a specialist in occupational medicine, and his book makes the case for a profound overhaul of the legislation around sickness certification, even calling for it to be removed from the workload of GPs — who are memorably described as excellent coaches for the problems we encounter in life, but abysmal referees.
