Matty - her childhood friend, her best friend, her brother, her protector - now runs the Anthill, a day care refuge for the street kids of Medellin.

"The past haunts a woman’s return to the Colombian city in this engrossing tale"

Pachico is a gripping writer, and the book continually throws up mysteries. Why is Matty covered in tattoos like a gang member? Why is there a photo missing from an album? What was the terrible thing Matty regrets saying on the phone? Whose is the unidentified voice that sometimes erupts in the narration, and what was the Arctic Fox, their shared childhood entity? Who is the boy with sharp, filed teeth?
