"Perhaps the art of Melania’s deal is that she has a rip-roaring eastern European sense of humour and is one step ahead of all of us."

The most eye-catching section of the book — is this a genuine scoop? (I haven’t read it elsewhere) — contains the revelation that in one area of life Melania has schooled her husband and he has listened. Though surely with disastrous consequences.

The reason he sticks his chin out so oddly when he is being photographed is, we are told, because she has told him this is what models do. Apparently they put their tongues on the top of their mouths to define their facial muscles and lift and extend their chins. It works for them, but it makes Donald Trump look weird.

Is she doing this on purpose? The thought does not occur to Jordan, but it surely will to her readers. Perhaps the art of Melania’s deal is that she has a rip-roaring eastern European sense of humour and is one step ahead of all of us.
