Long-form sportswriting has always had a higher profile in the US than in Britain, yet the writing is so sharp it doesn’t matter much that we may be unfamiliar with many of the baseball, American football and basketball stars under Thompson’s microscope. One subject we do know is Tiger Woods — this book is worth a read for the chapter on him alone.
