"Jeffery Deaver mines new territory in The Goodbye Man"

Here, Shaw is on the trail of neo-Nazi multiple murderers, a pursuit that leads him to the sinister Osiris Foundation, a benevolent-sounding self-actualisation group. Cults have been crime-fiction fodder as far back as Ross Macdonald’s The Moving Target (1949), and they still provide plenty of baleful moments, as here. If this new outing for Colter Shaw lacks the novelty of the earlier novel, it still demonstrates Deaver’s unarguable writing acumen.
