"intriguing fictionalisation of real-life events"

Holden's first foray into historical fiction sees Scottish educator and governess, Marion Crawford, enter the lives of the young princesses, Elizabeth and Mergaret, and the young nanny takes them under her wing. What was Marion doing there when she had intended to teach in the slums, and why was she shunned from the Royal family? This intriguing fictionalisation of real-life events offers a fascinating insight into the Queen's childhood.
